Alex Otti Calls For End To Political Dominance: Time For The People To Lead

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, emphasized that it’s now the era for the public to reap the benefits of democracy. Otti conveyed this message during a meeting with a delegation from Course 17, Syndicate 2 of the National Institute for Security Studies, Abuja, held at Government House Umuahia.

Governor Otti expressed his commitment to providing the masses with effective governance, highlighting that politicians in charge of the state since the advent of democracy in 1999 have extensively utilized state resources for their own gain.

Furthermore, Otti underscored his dedication to the welfare of the masses by recently clearing the backlog of pension arrears owed to retirees since 2014. He emphasized that this action reflects his advocacy for the marginalized, who have been neglected by the political elite.

Additionally, Otti announced his directive to ensure that retirees receive their pensions simultaneously with active workers on the 28th of each month, a policy that has been implemented since April.

In his words, “Abia pensioners will never again suffer delays in receiving their pensions. It’s time for the people to reclaim what is rightfully theirs after politicians have had their fill for the past 24 years.”
