Man Allegedly Murders Girlfriend In Akwa Ibom

Tension gripped Uyo, the capital of Akwa Ibom State, as a 25-year-old man, identified as Elisha, allegedly committed a heinous act by taking the life of his girlfriend during the early hours of Tuesday, May 14, 2023.

According to reports gathered by newsmen, the tragic incident unfolded at approximately 7:00 am in a compound near Beaulah International Nursery and Primary Schools along Atiku Abubakar Way.

Witnesses, including residents on their way to work and parents dropping off their children at school, were drawn to the scene of the crime, seeking answers to the shocking event that disrupted the morning tranquility and caused traffic congestion in the area.

As the news spread, security personnel, notably policemen, were deployed to maintain order and calm the agitated atmosphere.

An anonymous resident disclosed to reporters that the incident transpired when the suspect returned home with his girlfriend, purportedly a nurse. Shortly after entering the suspect’s room, quarreling ensued, prompting concerned neighbors to intervene.

Despite efforts to defuse the situation, the altercation escalated tragically, resulting in the loss of the young woman’s life. The suspect, reportedly in a fit of rage, allegedly mutilated the victim’s body before attempting to hide in the room’s ceiling.

Upon arrival, the police swiftly apprehended the suspect and commenced an investigation into the harrowing incident. The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Timfon Joh, confirmed the arrest, assuring the public that the suspect was in custody, undergoing interrogation and further investigation.
