Senator representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Ireti Kingibe, has called on the Senate to ensure that government agencies comply with the law and implement resolutions passed by the National Assembly.

Kingibe made the call during plenary on Thursday while supporting a motion sponsored by Senator Abdul Ningi, which sought strict compliance with Senate resolutions.

The FCT senator urged the Senate leadership and committee chairmen to make effective use of their constitutional powers to ensure that government institutions perform their responsibilities in line with established laws and procedures.

She stressed that agencies that fail to comply with legislative resolutions should face appropriate measures, provided such actions follow due process.

According to Kingibe, the responsibility of lawmakers extends beyond making laws and approving government budgets to ensuring that decisions taken in the interest of Nigerians are properly implemented.

She maintained that elected representatives must ensure that the concerns of their constituents receive adequate attention and that government institutions remain accountable for their actions.

The senator further emphasised that Nigerians deserve a government that listens to their concerns, takes meaningful action and delivers on its responsibilities.

Kingibe reaffirmed her commitment to promoting accountability, protecting the rule of law and ensuring that the needs and voices of citizens are not ignored.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the senator’s remarks highlight the need for stronger legislative oversight and greater compliance by government agencies with decisions and resolutions of the National Assembly.
