Armed Men In Military Uniform Kidnap 20 People In Abuja....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Approximately 20 people were reportedly abducted by gunmen dressed in military uniforms, numbering around 50, who invaded the Dawaki community in Abuja.

According to Daily Trust, Dawaki is a densely populated neighborhood where thousands of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) workers reside. It is located opposite Gwarinpa Estate, the largest organized single settlement in Nigeria, along the Abuja-Kubwa Expressway.

The publication stated that the bandits, armed with various weapons, stormed Dawaki around 7:30 PM on Sunday, May 19, and operated until around 8:30 PM.

This incident followed another kidnapping in Shagari Quarters, Dei-Dei, about five kilometers away on the same expressway, where the family of a Customs officer was abducted.

A resident of Dawaki, Hosea Christopher, confirmed the development, stating that the bandits abducted 17 residents from three houses and from the street along Fulani Junction. Five of the abductees managed to escape while being taken towards a mountain on the outskirts of the area.

Hosea mentioned that as the bandits were heading to a forest near the Usuma Dam, they encountered DSS operatives. He added:

“They immediately opened fire on the security men, who responded in kind. Despite the intense confrontation, the bandits managed to escape.”

Abel James, another resident who escaped abduction, recounted that the attackers “wore uniforms and had face masks.” He said:

“But I questioned their authenticity when they began shooting sporadically. As they moved into the community, I took refuge in a house under construction and observed their operation from upstairs, hearing gunshots as they headed towards the hill.

“We later learned that two of the gunmen were captured by security personnel, including DSS and soldiers, near the Usuma Dam, where the firefight occurred.”

FCT Commissioner of Police (CP) Benneth Igweh confirmed the incident on Monday, May 20, stating that he led the rescue operation on Sunday around Ushafa-Shishipe through the Mpape hills.

He explained that the operation followed a distress call after the attack on Dawaki residents by gunmen. He said:

“We advanced towards the assailants, tactically ambushing them at Ushafa Hill via Bwari down to Shishipe. This resulted in a fierce gun battle with the hoodlums, forcing them to flee with bullet wounds, and we rescued some of the abducted victims.”

Igweh added that the rescued victims are currently receiving medical attention in the hospital.
