A former National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Iyiola Omisore, shared insights into how he strategically ensured Asiwaju Bola Tinubu emerged as the party’s presidential candidate in the June 2022 primary. Omisore explained that, representing the South-West as the highest-ranking official at the time, his mission was to secure a South-Westerner as the party’s flagbearer. Despite differing agendas among representatives from various geopolitical zones, Omisore navigated the political landscape to achieve his objective. He noted that while the then APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Adamu, backed a different aspirant, democracy prevailed during the primary election, leading to Tinubu’s eventual victory.
