In a virtual interview with Seun Okinbaloye on the ‘Mic On’ podcast, Adeyemi discussed Leadership Beyond Governance Politics and the Role of the Younger Generation in Nigeria. The interview, which lasted one hour, thirty minutes, and forty-seven seconds, was streamed on the Mic On YouTube channel on Sunday.

Earlier this year, Adeyemi emphasized the necessity for Nigeria’s older generations, including political and religious leaders, to take responsibility for the country’s progress, as the younger generation will soon demand accountability.

Adeyemi cited COVID-19, the EndSARS protests, and disturbing dreams about Nigeria as factors prompting his relocation. He explained, “When COVID-19 started, all our children were in the US, so we stayed with them. Just as services were resuming, the EndSARS protests began, so we prepared to return to Nigeria. However, the protests ended violently, causing us to delay our return.”

He shared that both he and his wife experienced unsettling dreams about Nigeria, leading them to reconsider their plans. Adeyemi recounted, “My wife dreamt of traveling to Nigeria and returning to the US, which was a bad omen. Shortly after, I had a similar dream where I was violently attacked in Nigeria and had to call on the name of Jesus Christ. My wife woke me up at 2:00 a.m., and we prayed fervently, sensing danger.”

Further consultations with family members in Nigeria confirmed their unease about the return. Adeyemi remarked, “A few days later, we contacted family members in Nigeria, and they expressed discomfort about our travel plans. This confirmed our concerns, prompting us to pray more.”

Adeyemi, who hails from Kogi State but was born in Niger State, called a Zoom meeting with the top 120 leaders of Daystar Christian Centre to discuss the situation. The leaders agreed to keep the church running in his absence. Adeyemi noted, “The leaders trusted my judgment, and we decided to continue the journey as God directed.”

The president of Success Power International, an NGO specializing in leadership, financial, and motivational seminars, also highlighted the challenges and realizations during his extended stay in the US. “Being away from Nigeria for an extended period was tough, but it underscored Daystar’s strengths in training and established systems. It was almost three years before we received the Holy Spirit’s clearance to return to Nigeria.”

Ultimately, Adeyemi believes his focus has shifted from pastoring a local church to engaging in global ministry work, while still leveraging technology to keep Daystar running smoothly. Daystar Christian Centre, based in Lagos State and inaugurated on November 18, 1995, now has branches across various states in Nigeria
