Tragic Incident In Katsina: Bandits Claim Lives Of 20 Villagers, 4 Police Officers, And 2 Others

A vicious assault carried out by armed bandits in Katsina State has resulted in the death of 26 individuals and left 2 others injured. The attack occurred on June 10, 2024, targeting villages in the Kankara Local Government Area.
ASP Sadiq Abubakar, the spokesperson for the Katsina State Police Command, revealed in a press statement that the assailants, riding motorcycles, launched their attack on Gidan Boka village, claiming the lives of 15 innocent villagers. Additionally, they ambushed a police patrol team responding to the distress call near Kurmeji village, resulting in the deaths of four police officers, including three inspectors and one corporal, as well as two members of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps, KSCWC.
As they fled through Dan Nakwabo village to their hideouts, the perpetrators reportedly killed five more villagers. Expressing deep dismay over the incident, Katsina State Commissioner of Police, Musa Aliyu, conveyed the command’s heartfelt condolences to the families and friends of the victims.
CP Aliyu affirmed that the command is collaborating with all relevant stakeholders to prevent further occurrences and ensure the apprehension of the perpetrators behind this despicable act.
