A Well-Deserved Win’: UK APC Women Leader Commends Meranda On Speaker Role

In a statement released on Wednesday, Gbajabiamila, who serves as the acting woman leader of the caucus, pledged the unwavering support of the UK chapter’s women for the newly elected Speaker. She described Meranda’s emergence as a significant milestone for women in leadership.

Meranda was elected Speaker on Monday following the unanimous impeachment of Mudashiru Obasa by lawmakers over allegations of misconduct and financial misappropriation. Her election marks a historic first as the position is now held by a woman in Lagos State.

Gbajabiamila praised Meranda’s achievement, calling it a moment of pride for Lagos and a reflection of her commitment and competence.

“This victory is a proud milestone for Lagos State and a testament to your dedication and capability. The women of the APC Lagos Chapter in the UK join in celebrating your success,” her statement read.

Expressing confidence in the Speaker’s leadership, Gbajabiamila emphasized the need for collaboration to further the development of Lagos State.
