Chima Anyaso, the 2023 deputy governorship candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) in Abia State, has officially defected to the Labour Party (LP).....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Joining him in this political shift is Nnamdi Ibekwe, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmaker representing Bende North constituency, along with his supporters. Also making the switch is Okey Ezeala from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Their defection was formalized during the inauguration of the Bende Local Government chapter of the Abia Arise Movement—the grassroots political platform associated with Governor Alex Otti—held last Friday in Uzuakoli.
Speaking at the event, Governor Otti described the movement as more than a political organisation, but rather a non-partisan initiative dedicated to community mobilisation and leadership development.
He noted that his government had created avenues for personal advancement and empowerment through significant investments in critical infrastructure, social services, and other key sectors.
“Our administration is about service—addressing public concerns and using public funds to uplift citizens,” Otti stated. “We’re deliberately investing in infrastructure that bridges rural-urban divides and curbs rural-urban migration. People are encouraged not by handouts, but by trust in the government’s decisions.”
In his remarks, Anyaso praised the governor for his focused and people-centered leadership, stating that it had restored hope among citizens. He formally resigned from the YPP and declared his full support for Otti and the Abia Arise Movement’s vision for rebuilding the state.
