During a thanksgiving ceremony at the Michael Okpara Auditorium in Umuahia, organized by the Umuahia South branch of the Full Gospel Businessmen Fellowship International in collaboration with the Chief of Staff’s office at the Abia State Government House, Emezue shared his harrowing ordeal of spending eleven days in captivity. He described the experience as deeply distressing and one he wishes to put behind him.

Emezue recounted the constant threats on his life by his captors if their demands were not met, but he maintained unwavering faith in God’s ability to ensure his safe return throughout the ordeal.

He extended heartfelt appreciation to Governor Alex Otti for his dedication to securing his release, and expressed gratitude to his wife, Kate Emezue, and his family for their prayers and relentless efforts in ensuring his safety. Emezue also acknowledged the support of his colleagues at Abia State University, members of the Full Gospel Businessmen Fellowship International, and the Chief Medical Director of the Federal Medical Centre, Umuahia.

The abduction occurred in January 2024 when Emezue was ambushed by criminals while refueling his vehicle in Umuahia. He regained his freedom after enduring eleven days in captivity.

Governor Alex Otti, in an update to the people of Abia in early April, disclosed that the main suspect involved in Emezue’s abduction was apprehended at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos while attempting to flee overseas. Additionally, the second suspect was captured in Port Harcourt.
