The incident occurred when a fully loaded tanker with registration number T20 146 LA, carrying Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), collided with a Toyota Sienna space bus at the Imani roundabout. The collision led to a massive fire, leaving three people injured.
Witnesses reported flames shooting high into the sky as drivers abandoned their vehicles and fled the scene in a desperate bid to escape the blaze. The explosion caused severe traffic congestion, affecting several nearby routes, including those leading to Farmers Market, Nicon Hilton Hotel, MTN, and Chicken House.
According to the spokesperson for the FCT Police Command, patrol teams from Maitama, Wuse, and Central Police Stations, along with operatives from the Federal Fire Service, quickly responded to the emergency, working to rescue victims and put out the fire.
Fortunately, no fatalities were reported, although the injured—Idris Mohammed, Suleiman Gimba, and Adamu Isiayku—were taken to Maitama District Hospital for treatment. The spokesperson confirmed that the situation is now under control, thanks to the collaborative efforts of the police and fire service personnel.
