This housing initiative is part of the government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed at providing secure and comfortable living conditions for members of the judiciary. Wike stated that the 40 homes will be built in the Kantampe District, with 20 allocated to the FCT High Court, 10 to the Federal High Court, and 10 to the Court of Appeal.

The project is slated for completion within 15 months. Wike emphasized that President Tinubu views it as unacceptable for judges and justices to live in rented homes or hotels, a situation that compromises their safety and convenience. “The President directed that the FCT, through the FCDA, immediately construct 40 houses for judges and justices in the Kantampe District,” Wike said.

In addition to the housing initiative, Wike disclosed that the FEC has approved several infrastructure projects aimed at improving access to the judicial complex. These include the construction of roads connecting Artillery Road N11 to the judges’ residences, as well as the enhancement of internal roads within the residential area. Plans are also in place to develop a road linking Ring Road 1-N16 Shehu Shagari Way to the judges’ quarters, and pathways to the Court of Appeal in Abuja.

These projects form part of a larger infrastructure plan in the FCT, which includes constructing over 75 kilometers of roads in satellite towns like Kwali, Gwagwalada, and Bwari, with a target completion date by December. Additionally, Wike revealed the cancellation of a previous agreement for the Maitama 2 development due to delays, stating that a new bidding process will be launched to ensure progress and help address the housing shortage in the capital.
