Yesufu emphasized the need to break away from the conventional approach to governance.
This critique comes in response to the Abia State budget performance report, revealing a substantial expenditure of N927 million in the specified categories. Yesufu cautioned against the continuation of traditional governance practices.
The Abia State budget performance report, titled “Abia State Third Quarter (July – September) 2023 Budget Performance,” disclosed that the government, under Otti’s leadership, allocated N223,389,889.84 for refreshments and meals, N305,400,000.00 for honorarium and sitting allowances, and N397,520,734.00 for welfare packages during the mentioned quarter.
Additionally, the report indicated a usage of N252.4 million to run the Deputy Governor’s office for the same three-month period.
Yesufu expressed her concerns on social media, questioning why the government would allocate nearly a billion for food and welfare in just three months.
She urged Governor Otti to engage organizations like @TrackaNG to scrutinize spending and identify areas for reduction, advocating for a shift towards more responsible financial management.
