After a closed-door meeting with the Governor, Emmanuel Fashe, State Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), informed the press that the new wage will be implemented using the same consequential adjustment table from 2019, which was used for the ₦32,000 minimum wage. This adjustment will remain in place until the National Salaries, Wages, and Income Commission releases the new salary rate table.
Fashe explained, “The new minimum wage will be applied as a percentage adjustment based on the current ₦32,000 minimum wage for Adamawa State.”
He noted that Governor Fintiri committed to the ₦70,000 minimum wage even before receiving the official guidelines from the Salaries and Wages Commission, demonstrating his strong commitment to improving workers’ welfare.
