Adamawa State Officials Reject Accusations Of October Salary Reductions For WorkersThe Adamawa State Government has refuted allegations that it deducted N40,000 from the October salaries of all workers, calling the claims false.

In a statement signed by Governor Ahmadu Fintiri’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Humwashi Wonosikou, the government emphasized, “There was no blanket N40,000 deduction across the board.” It described the allegations as “misinformation” aimed at misrepresenting the government’s actions.

While denying the blanket deduction, the government acknowledged certain deductions that are part of accumulated legal commitments. “These are statutory deductions in accordance with federal and state regulations,” it clarified.

The statement, issued on Friday morning, identified the deductions as follows: Income Tax under PAYE, contributions to the National Housing Fund, and the Adamawa State Health Insurance Contributory Scheme.

The government explained that the dissatisfaction with October salary deductions stems from unpaid contributions to the National Housing Fund, PAYE, and the State Health Insurance Scheme over the past three months.
