This announcement was made in a statement issued and signed by Ikechukwu Ani, the Head of Press and Public Relations. According to the statement, Bakori, who hails from Katsina State, succeeds Salman Garba Dogo, the former Commissioner, who has been promoted to Assistant Inspector General of Police.
Prior to this appointment, Bakori served as the Commissioner of Police for Homicide at the Force Investigation Department in Abuja.
The statement further highlighted Bakori’s extensive career, which includes serving as the Commander of the Bayelsa State Joint Task Force, Operation Doo Akpo in Yenagoa, Assistant Commissioner of the Special Protection Unit at Force Headquarters in Abuja, Assistant Commissioner of the Criminal Investigation Department in Bayelsa and Rivers States, Principal Staff Officer to the Inspector General of Police, and Commanding Officer of the 17 Police Mobile Force in Akure.
In related news, the Chairman of the Commission, DIG Hashimu Argungu (retd), has urged Bakori to prioritize maintaining peace in Kano State. Argungu emphasized the need to quickly address the challenges ahead, tackle crime, and create a secure environment for both business operations and free movement.
He also suggested that Bakori conduct a thorough crime mapping of the state to focus on revitalizing Kano, assuring that the Commission will closely monitor his progress and offer ongoing support.
The Commission’s approval has been sent to the Inspector General of Police for implementation, as confirmed in a letter signed by the Commission’s Secretary, Chief Onyemuche Nnamani.
