Speaking on Fresh FM’s ‘Political Circuit’ on Saturday, Adelabu expressed frustration over the sabotage he attributes to organized groups. He emphasized that attacks on power infrastructure, such as dynamite explosions at transmission substations and the destruction of power lines, are not the work of ordinary individuals but rather a coordinated effort by a cartel.

Adelabu remarked, “Resistance and sabotage are expected. I receive threat calls, and it’s clear that these actions are organized crimes rather than random acts. We face a cartel working against our progress.”

Highlighting his achievements, Adelabu noted that Nigeria’s electricity generation capacity has risen from 4,000MW to 5,155MW as of August 8, 2024. He contrasted this rapid progress with the previous decades, where the country took over 25 years to achieve an additional 2,000MW.

“Our goal is to reach 6,000MW by the end of the year with the support of the Federal Government,” Adelabu said. He also urged energy consumers to pay their bills to ensure the sustainability of these improvements, arguing that the cost of electricity is still more affordable compared to running generators.
