Alimi revealed that Governor Adeleke resigned from the PDP on November 4, 2025, and had officially joined the Accord Party by November 6. However, he did not make the move public immediately to avoid overshadowing the PDP National Convention held in Ibadan on November 15 and 16.

Speaking in a Channels Television interview on Wednesday, Alimi explained, “He resigned from the PDP on November 4 and joined the Accord Party by November 6, but he delayed the public unveiling because of the PDP convention. The news of Adeleke’s defection went viral on Tuesday. In his resignation letter addressed to the PDP Chairman of Ward 2, Sagba Abogunde, in Ede North Local Government Area, Adeleke cited the party’s ongoing national leadership crisis as his reason for leaving.
