The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has assured electricity consumers in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, and its surrounding franchise areas that full power supply will be restored within the next 11 days.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

According to AEDC, the ongoing repairs by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) on the underground transmission line—damaged by vandals near Millennium Park in Abuja—are expected to be completed by February 23.

In a power supply update shared on its official X account on Wednesday, the company emphasized TCN’s commitment to completing the restoration work and urged residents to remain patient.

The notice reads:

**“Dear valued customers, we regret the ongoing power disruptions affecting Wuye, Utako, Jabi, Mabushi, Katampe Districts, Life Camp, Wuse Zones 1-7, Wuse 2, Maitama, parts of the Central Business District, and nearby areas.

This outage is due to the vandalization of the 132kV Katampe – Central Area underground transmission cable.

TCN has assured us that their engineers are working tirelessly to replace and reconnect the damaged cable, with a completion target set for February 23, 2025.

We sincerely appreciate your patience and understand the inconvenience this may cause. In the meantime, load management will be implemented to optimize the available supply. AEDC remains in close collaboration with TCN to ensure a swift resolution and full power restoration.”**

Widespread Power Outages in Abuja

In the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), a total of 188 franchise locations under AEDC have experienced significant power outages over the past two months due to various technical issues affecting their feeders.

Between January 1 and February 11, 2025, these disruptions severely impacted businesses and households across multiple neighborhoods.

This information was disclosed through 26 public notices posted on AEDC’s official X account, keeping customers updated on the outages and ongoing restoration efforts.
