Peseiro had entered into a new agreement with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) the previous year, signing a short-term contract.

The 63-year-old coach had committed to a six-month deal, which reached its conclusion at the end of the AFCON.

An essential stipulation in the contract mandated Peseiro to guide the Super Eagles to the semi-finals of the AFCON.

Exceeding expectations, the Portuguese tactician steered the Eagles to the tournament’s final, where they faced a 2-1 defeat against Ivory Coast, the hosts.

With the tournament now concluded, the NFF’s decision regarding Peseiro’s future remains uncertain.
