Djourou, who hails from Abidjan, Ivory Coast, and represented Switzerland internationally, is lending his support to the Ivorian team, backing the Brighton & Hove Albion winger to shine at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Abidjan.

Despite Nigeria securing a narrow 1-0 victory over Ivory Coast in the group stage, Djourou remains optimistic about the Elephants’ chances.

Djourou and Adingra previously played together at Danish club FC Nordsjaelland, where they formed a bond.

However, Adingra missed the start of the tournament due to a hamstring injury. Nonetheless, he made a significant impact upon his return, notably contributing to Ivory Coast’s victory over Mali in the quarterfinals.

Describing Adingra’s potential, Djourou praised the winger’s talent and work ethic, suggesting that he possesses the qualities required to excel at top Premier League clubs like Arsenal and Manchester City.

Reflecting on Adingra’s injury and subsequent recovery, Djourou expressed optimism about his ability to shine in the AFCON final if his fitness permits.
