Africans Lack Business Grit – Obi Cubana Reveals Sh*cking Truth

In a viral video making the rounds online, Cubana compared the African and Western approaches to business, attributing Africa’s limited global reach to a lack of collaboration and an obsession with sole ownership.

According to him, while entrepreneurs in the West understand the power of partnerships and shared investment, many Africans insist on running businesses alone, often to their own detriment.

He explained that this “I must own it all” mindset restricts growth and prevents the execution of large-scale projects, as individuals prioritize control over collective advancement.

Cubana said:

“The reason Africans don’t go far in business is because we want to own everything ourselves. Nobody wants to share.

But if you look at the ‘oyibo’ (foreign) people, there may be 20 owners of a single company—some may not even know each other—and yet, they come together to make complex projects look simple.

Our problem is, ‘I want to have Obi Cubana and Sons Limited,’ whether or not my sons are interested in the business. That’s why, the moment the founder dies or becomes incapacitated, the business dies too—there’s no second or third generation to sustain it.”
