Chairman of the forum and Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, expressed profound sorrow over the tragic incidents and called for intensified efforts to bring the perpetrators to justice and restore lasting peace.

Describing the attacks as a grave threat to the unity and stability of the region, Governor Yahaya emphasized the need for urgent and coordinated action. In a statement issued Saturday in Gombe by his spokesperson, Ismaila Uba Misilli, the governor extended heartfelt condolences to the victims’ families and the people of Plateau State.

He lamented the recurring violence in rural Northern communities, stating that the continued bloodshed of innocent citizens remains a stain on the conscience of the region and the nation.

“The sanctity of human life must always be upheld. These senseless and barbaric attacks are completely unacceptable and must be condemned in the strongest terms,” Yahaya declared.

He praised Governor Caleb Mutfwang for his swift response and lauded the security agencies for their prompt intervention in stabilizing the affected areas. Yahaya urged security operatives to intensify their search for those behind the attacks and ensure they are brought to justice.

The NSGF chairman also stressed the importance of promoting tolerance, peacebuilding, and mutual understanding among communities—particularly between farmers and herders—to prevent future conflicts.

Reaffirming the forum’s commitment to regional peace, Yahaya stated:

“As Northern Governors, we remain resolute in our collective resolve to end this cycle of bloodshed. We will continue to strengthen security partnerships, foster dialogue, and implement policies that promote unity and peace.”

He further appealed to traditional rulers, religious leaders, and civil society organizations to support government efforts by advocating peace, tolerance, and reconciliation, noting that sustainable development cannot thrive in an atmosphere of violence and insecurity.
