Among those confirmed are former President Olusegun Obasanjo, the five South-East governors, and Yoruba leader Ayo Adebanjo. Chief Iwuanyanwu, a respected entrepreneur and politician, will be laid to rest on November 1 at his home in Attah, Imo State.
Obi addressed the media in Abuja on Saturday, stating that the governors from the five South-East states have expressed their continued support. He was represented by Prof. Ike Ikechukwu, chairman of the media sub-committee, who emphasized that the necessary outreach efforts are underway.
“We are actively engaging respected elder statesmen and women, as well as stakeholders, friends, and well-wishers both domestically and internationally,” Obi said.
He noted that during their most recent meeting, the South-East governors reiterated their commitment to ensuring a fitting and dignified farewell for their leader.
“In addition to support from national stakeholders, the Diaspora community is organizing various activities to honor Ahaejiagamba,” he added. “As previously communicated, the series of events planned will culminate in his final interment on November 1, 2024.
