The Air Officer Commanding (AOC) of the Air Training Command in Kaduna, Nigerian Air Force (NAF), AVM Nnandi Ananaba, emphasized that no amount of compensation can adequately reward veterans for their dedicated service to the nation. He acknowledged the sacrifices made by veterans, some of whom paid the ultimate price in the line of duty, while others completed their service and retired. Ananaba highlighted the significance of annually celebrating and honoring these heroes past, reflecting on their sacrifices, and ensuring that their efforts were not in vain.

Ananaba questioned whether enough had been done to appreciate and reward veterans for their labor and sacrifices, emphasizing that actions should reflect the nation’s commitment to keeping faith with them. He mentioned that the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, deemed it essential to celebrate and honor veterans through the outreach, directing the organization of a program as a prelude to the Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebrations.

The AOC elaborated on the outreach program, which included free medical checkups for NAF veterans on the first day and a seminar on the second day. He commended the initiative, stating that it holds special meaning for those who, in the future, will join the ranks of retired personnel. Ananaba explained that the medical outreach aimed to encourage veterans to undergo routine medical checkups, while the seminar provided an interactive platform to tap into the wealth of retired personnel’s experience and gather feedback on their welfare.
