According to Femi Babafemi, the spokesperson for the NDLEA, the operation unfolded at the NAHCO import shed of the Lagos airport. The seemingly innocent giant wooden boxes, resembling sound speakers, were discovered to contain sixty (60) bags of the premium psychoactive substance Loud, totaling 33.5 kilograms in weight.
The NDLEA spokesperson disclosed that the agency apprehended three suspects in connection with the illicit shipment. Among those arrested were Akeem Afeez, a freight agent; Babalola Ayodeji Gboyega, the manager of a logistics company; and Taiwo Olusegun Anuoluwapo, the designated receiver of the concealed consignment. Operations leading to their arrests took place between Thursday, February 15th, and Friday, February 16th, 2024.
“Afeez was apprehended at the airport, Gboyega was nabbed at his office on Allen Avenue Ikeja, and Taiwo was traced to his residence at 13 Ayo Babatunde Crescent, Lekki Phase1, Lagos, where he was picked up on Friday,” stated Babafemi. The NDLEA continues to intensify efforts to combat the trafficking and distribution of illicit substances, ensuring the arrest of those involved in such activities.
