Activist Aisha Yesufu has announced that she will actively oppose Peter Obi if he agrees to be the running mate of any politician in the 2027 general election. This comes amid discussions suggesting Obi could serve as the vice-presidential candidate for a leading Northern politician.
Although Obi has rejected these suggestions, stating he remains open to collaborating with those committed to advancing Nigeria, Yesufu has expressed strong dissent.
In a viral video, Yesufu stated:
“If Peter Obi were to run as Vice President or running mate to anyone, I, Aisha Yesufu, will work against that ticket. Even if I don’t support any other party, my efforts will be focused on opposing that ticket. We should not always settle for the best to be in a secondary role. This situation is reminiscent of how women are often relegated to deputy positions. Just as women are sometimes seen only as vice and nothing more, the same is happening to Peter Obi.”
