Police Officer Accused Of Assaulting Student Over Charity Donation....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

A police watchdog is investigating allegations made by a student who claims he was assaulted by a police officer after being mistakenly suspected of drug dealing.

Surveillance footage appears to show the 22-year-old, identified only as Samuel, being repeatedly struck by the officer while lying face-down on the ground.

According to Samuel, he had stopped on Barrack Road in Northampton to give money to a homeless person when he noticed a man in a hoodie approaching him. Fearing for his safety, Samuel began to run, but he stopped as soon as the man identified himself as a police officer.

The footage shows Samuel slowing down and turning to face the officer, who then slams him into a wooden fence and tackles him to the ground. The officer proceeds to strike Samuel three times in the torso before another officer arrives to help handcuff him.

In a video shared on social media, Samuel claims he was “beaten up” and “treated like an animal” despite complying with the officer’s commands. He sustained bruised ribs and a bleeding knee. He was taken to a police station for an “enhanced search” and later released.

Samuel describes the search process, including being required to strip and squat in front of officers, as “degrading.”

Northamptonshire Police maintain that Samuel was seen exchanging a package suspected of being related to drug offences. However, they state he was released without further action after a negative search result.

The police force has referred the case to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) and is conducting an internal review, including examining bodycam footage.

Samuel has expressed a desire for the officer to face disciplinary action and has lodged complaints with both Northamptonshire Police and the IOPC with legal assistance. He questioned whether the treatment he received would have been different if he were not from an ethnic minority.

A Northamptonshire Police spokesperson commented that they are aware of the CCTV footage circulating online and are in discussions with Samuel regarding his concerns. The spokesperson confirmed that the incident is under internal review, including a review of the officers’ body-worn video.
