Ewenla, who held the position of Special Assistant on Forestry for the Central Senatorial District, was alleged to have engaged in corrupt practices involving timber traders in the state. In a statement on Wednesday, Aiyedatiwa’s Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan, confirmed that Ewenla was dismissed effective immediately.
In response to the allegations, Ewenla issued a statement asserting that the claims were unfounded and aimed at damaging his reputation. He contended that certain individuals were targeting him because they viewed him as an obstacle to illegal activities within government forest reserves.
“I categorically state that the allegation is false and was orchestrated to tarnish my image because I was seen as a significant barrier to illegal operations in government forest reserves,” he said.
Ewenla emphasized that the Ondo State Government has imposed a ban on all forms of deforestation and unauthorized activities within these reserves. He clarified that any funds involved are intended for the government and not for his personal gain. “Before anyone can operate, they must pay a specified amount into the government coffers. The money being discussed is meant for the government, not my personal account,” he added.
