Senate President Godswill Akpabio has urged the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, to eradicate corruption within the Force. The call came during the inaugural Nigeria Police Awards and Commendations Ceremony held in Abuja on Monday evening, as reported by Naija News.
Akpabio commended Egbetokun and the entire leadership of the Nigeria Police Force for organizing the event and encouraged them to utilize the platform to celebrate the achievements of the Force while reaffirming their dedication to enhancing security across Nigeria.
Expressing the National Assembly’s commitment to supporting improved policing in the country, Akpabio emphasized the importance of collaboration among all stakeholders for effective service delivery by the Police Force.
He remarked, “I commend the Police for this inaugural awards ceremony, a clear demonstration of IGP Egbetokun’s commitment to recognizing deserving individuals. By acknowledging the bravery and dedication of individual officers, we not only inspire them for greater performance but also strengthen the Force’s new agenda focusing on ethical revival, professional standards, and anti-corruption efforts.”
