Alert: Anambra Police Prepare For NLC Strike Enforcement

In response to the state’s labor unions’ determination to ensure complete adherence, the police have affirmed their alignment with the federal government’s stance, labeling the strike as illegal. They have pledged to intervene decisively to halt its execution, including thwarting any attempts by troublemakers to exploit the situation for unrest.

In a statement issued by SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the State Police Public Relations Officer, the command emphasized its commitment to upholding legal protocols and urged caution to avert public disorder. Deploying personnel strategically, the police are tasked with forestalling any disruptions orchestrated by miscreants, while simultaneously recognizing the labor movement’s rights within the confines of the law.

Encouraging residents to proceed with lawful activities and remain vigilant, the command urged prompt reporting of security concerns through designated helplines.

However, the labor front remains resolute in its stance, reiterating a call for a comprehensive shutdown of both public and private entities. A joint statement by the NLC and TUC leadership in the state, signed by Comrades Humphrey Nwafor and Chris Ogbonna, respectively, mandated affiliate unions to ensure full compliance with the strike directive. All offices, including banks and educational institutions, are instructed to remain closed until further notice
