Alex Otti Breaks Silence On Tinubu Support, Makes Major 2027 Revelation

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has clarified his position on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the 2027 presidential election, saying he supports Tinubu in his capacity as President of Nigeria but has a different presidential candidate for the next general election.

Otti made the clarification during an interview with Arise News anchor Ojy Okpe, where he was asked about his position on Tinubu’s potential bid for another term in office.

The governor explained that his responsibilities as a state governor and member of the National Economic Council require him to work with and support the President on matters of governance, regardless of his personal political preference for the 2027 election.

According to Otti, Tinubu has the constitutional right to contest the election, adding that his relationship with the President in the course of governance should not automatically be interpreted as an endorsement of Tinubu’s re-election campaign.

Otti stated that his position on supporting Tinubu as President should be distinguished from his eventual decision on which candidate to support in the presidential election.

He further disclosed that he already has a preferred presidential candidate for 2027 and indicated that he would support that candidate when the time comes.

The governor’s comments come amid growing political activity ahead of the 2027 general elections and recent public discussions over his relationship with the Tinubu administration.

Otti, who was elected governor of Abia State on the Labour Party platform in 2023, has maintained a working relationship with the Federal Government while continuing to identify with his political platform.

His latest remarks provide a distinction between his official responsibilities as governor and his personal political choice ahead of the 2027 presidential contest.
