In a recent interview, the actress shared that she initially had no interest in featuring in the video when the director approached her. At the time, she was fully focused on building her acting career and wasn’t keen on appearing in music videos.

According to her, she rejected the offer without giving it much thought. However, later that day, a conversation with a friend changed everything. Her friend expressed excitement at the opportunity and encouraged her to reconsider.

Motivated by that chat, Yvonne called the director back, received the shoot details, and showed up on set the next morning—where she met 2Baba for the very first time.

She described the moment as surreal, yet emphasized that it didn’t spark a desire to pursue more video appearances. For her, acting has always been the goal, and her African Queen role was a spontaneous one-time decision.

In her words:

“2Baba had just gone solo from Plantashun Boiz, and I hadn’t heard his new songs yet. So when I was told about ‘African Queen’, I was like, what’s that? Which song is that?”

“Later that evening, I mentioned it to a friend, Michael, and he screamed, ‘I love that song! You should do it!’ That was when I called the director back. He gave me all the instructions, and I showed up the next morning.

“When I saw 2Baba in person, I thought, ‘Wow, this is real.’ But even then, I wasn’t interested in being a video vixen. I kept telling everyone—I just want to act.”
