Amaechi Drops Bombshell: INEC Allegedly Undermining Opposition Ahead Of 2027 Polls
According to Naija News, Amaechi—now a leading figure in the opposition coalition aligned with the African Democratic Congress (ADC)—made the claims during a live interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Thursday.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Expressing concern over INEC’s sluggish handling of new party registrations, Amaechi alleged that the electoral body is stifling the growth of credible opposition parties to give the APC an unfair advantage.
“I chair the committee responsible for registering the All Democratic Alliance (ADA) under the coalition,” Amaechi said. “If INEC had approved ADA, we might not have joined the ADC. The political space is being restricted in favor of the APC. I’m here to say that the INEC chairman should be ashamed.”
He further alleged that INEC’s refusal to register ADA was a deliberate strategy to weaken the opposition. “Right now, what’s holding ADA back is the submission of office addresses and party officers, which we plan to present at the next meeting,” he explained. “Other parties have also completed their applications, yet INEC has blatantly ignored them. In some cases, their office leases have even expired.”
Amaechi didn’t hold back in his criticism, adding, “INEC, under this chairman, is ensuring there’s no strong opposition to the APC. They should be ashamed—this is the worst election conduct since Maurice Iwu.”
Despite the hurdles, Amaechi vowed that the ADC and its partners would continue to mobilize Nigerians and resist any plans to rig the 2027 elections.
“We’re determined,” he said. “Our plan is to rally Nigerians to come out en masse to vote and resist every attempt at electoral manipulation, including by INEC. These rigging agents are less than 2% of the population—we can defeat them.”
