Beke dismissed rumors suggesting that Amaechi is no longer politically engaged, especially at the state level. He stated, “Amaechi remains the leader of the APC in Rivers State. You cannot write the political history of the state, particularly the APC, without dedicating a chapter to Amaechi. He is still a powerful force in politics and is fully committed to the APC’s participation in the elections.”
Beke made these remarks during the presentation of party flags to APC candidates in 21 local government areas, ahead of the October 5th local government elections. He confirmed that Amaechi is fully aware of and supportive of the APC’s involvement in the upcoming polls, with the party’s candidates receiving his endorsement.
He reiterated that the APC would actively participate in the local government elections, noting that all APC candidates had been screened by the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) and were fully qualified to contest. Beke urged security agencies to remain neutral and ensure a free and fair election process.
In his speech, Beke also criticized former Governor Nyesom Wike but commended the current Governor, Siminalayi Fubara. He said, “Our candidates have been screened and are ready for the election. Some believe the election will not take place, but they are mistaken. I urge the security agencies to monitor those who intend to cause disruptions. Rivers State was a battleground under former Governor Wike, but our current governor is God-fearing. Anyone causing trouble will be dealt with by the authorities.
