Hon. Dominic Okafor, representing Aguta Federal Constituency of Anambra State, has vehemently denied accusations of accepting a $140 million bribe from Binance. Okafor expressed dismay over the reports, labeling them as an attempt to tarnish his reputation by certain media outlets.

In a press briefing held at the National Assembly, Okafor clarified that he was unaware of any such transaction and emphasized his commitment to integrity and national interest. He highlighted his motion regarding the escape of Binance executive Nadeem Anjarwalla from custody, stressing that it was motivated solely by a desire for national security and had no connection to bribery allegations.

Okafor revealed his proactive approach to address the situation, including sending letters to relevant authorities to retract the false information within 24 hours or face legal consequences. He emphasized his long-standing reputation in the private sector and affiliations with organizations like Rotary International, underscoring the seriousness with which he views the allegations against him.

The lawmaker assured that he is consulting with his legal team to determine the appropriate course of action against those responsible for spreading the false accusations. He emphasized that such allegations cannot be ignored and vowed to take necessary steps to clear his name.

Amid ongoing discussions with his legal advisors, Okafor remains resolute in his determination to defend his integrity and reputation against what he perceives as baseless attempts to smear his name.
