The trio emerged victorious during the NDC’s state and National Assembly primaries held across the state on Friday. The exercise was conducted using the Option A4 voting system.

The primary election commenced with the accreditation of registered party members, while voting began later in the afternoon amid what party officials described as a remarkable turnout of delegates and members.

In addition to the senatorial candidates, the party also produced candidates for the House of Representatives and Anambra State House of Assembly elections. A total of 11 candidates emerged for the House of Representatives, while 30 secured tickets for the State Assembly.

Reacting to the outcome of the exercise, the Anambra State Chairman of the NDC, Ikem Uzoezie, expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the primaries, describing them as peaceful, transparent and credible.

According to him, the party has set a benchmark for democratic practices in the state.

“We congratulate all aspirants who emerged as candidates as well as those who did not. The exercise showcased a high level of sportsmanship and unity among party members,” Uzoezie said.

Speaking on behalf of the successful candidates, Onunkwo commended party members for ensuring a peaceful and orderly process.

He noted that the party’s candidates share a common vision of advancing the development of Anambra State and providing quality representation to the people.

“We are pleased with the peaceful conduct of the primaries and appreciate our members for their maturity throughout the process,” Onunkwo said.

“With the calibre of candidates produced by our party, Anambra is poised to witness people-oriented representation that will drive greater development and progress across the state.”
