Anointing Can’t Save You! – Israel DMW Taunts Asue Ighodalo After Supreme Court Blow
The Supreme Court on Thursday upheld the election of Senator Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the legitimate Governor of Edo State.
Reacting to the ruling, Israel DMW took to his Instagram story to mock the PDP candidate, Dr. Asue Ighodalo. He shared a throwback photo of Ighodalo being anointed by Pastor Ituah Ighodalo ahead of the 2024 election, with a mocking caption:
“Anointing no dey win election for Naija ooo.”
Israel suggested that spiritual blessings alone are not enough to guarantee political success in Nigeria.
Meanwhile, former Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, expressed deep disappointment with the Supreme Court’s decision. In a post shared on his official (formerly Twitter) account, Obaseki described the ruling as a setback for democracy.
He insisted that the PDP’s candidate, Dr. Asue Ighodalo, and his running mate, Osarodion Ogie, were the legitimate winners of the September 21, 2024, governorship election.
Obaseki explained that the party’s legal challenge — from the Election Petition Tribunal through the Court of Appeal to the Supreme Court — was driven by its firm belief that the election was compromised and manipulated.
