Posting on his official X handle on Saturday, May 10, the former Anambra State governor expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy, describing it as a shocking display of brutality amid the country’s worsening insecurity.
Obi called the attack “another shameful act of barbarism” and stressed that such horrific violence continues to plague Nigeria, spreading fear and chaos in everyday life.
“These atrocities reflect the deepening insecurity in our nation. The consistent loss of innocent lives is not only inhumane but also erodes our collective values,” Obi stated.
He urged the government to act decisively to fulfill its constitutional responsibility of safeguarding lives and property, adding that no nation can progress under such constant threat and terror.
“These repeated massacres highlight a national failure in upholding the sanctity of human life. It is time to stop this grim pattern of violence,” he continued.
Obi also appealed for a thorough investigation and swift justice, insisting that the perpetrators must be held accountable. He offered his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims, praying for strength and peace for those affected.
