In an emergency press conference early Saturday, APC claimed that both the government and BASIEC had compromised the election’s integrity. APC’s Legal Adviser, Rabiu Garba, reading from a statement by the State Chairman, expressed concerns that BASIEC had not provided essential election materials, including ballot papers and result sheets, at designated polling centers.

Garba further alleged that BASIEC might announce election results before voting concludes, which he deemed unacceptable and a threat to the democratic process. He also criticized the commission for not disclosing the identities of presiding, collation, and returning officers despite an official request from the APC.

Garba highlighted the APC’s distrust of the process, noting previous instances where the party felt sidelined by BASIEC’s handling of the election. The APC has called for a transparent and fair election that genuinely reflects the will of Bauchi’s voters and condemned the PDP government’s actions as attempts to disenfranchise the electorate.

The press conference was attended by notable APC figures, including Senator Shehu Umar Buba and Chairman Mohammed Hassan.

In response, PDP chieftain Abdullahi Mato dismissed the APC’s allegations as baseless. He asserted that Bauchi is a PDP-controlled state, with the party’s developmental projects speaking for themselves. Mato criticized the APC for lacking achievements during its previous term and suggested that the APC’s claims were a ploy to garner sympathy.

Another PDP leader, Abubakar Musa, questioned why the PDP would rig the election when the party had directed its members to campaign actively. He accused the APC of shirking its campaign responsibilities and resorting to propaganda instead of engaging in the electoral process.
