In an interview with Arise TV, Mrs. Kereng acknowledged that while the two countries have maintained a bilateral relationship for many years, it has primarily been superficial, focusing mainly on visa matters rather than substantial collaborative projects.

“We have historically had a bilateral relationship, but it has been quite minimal, focusing on basic interactions. We haven’t explored significant program-related or transformational opportunities,” she said.

Mrs. Kereng emphasized her intention to expand the relationship by fostering more robust projects and encouraging increased movement of Nigerians to Botswana for tourism and business. She highlighted the potential benefits of a more dynamic and engaged partnership between the two nations.

“We want to build a more meaningful relationship that offers greater opportunities for both countries. Our goal is to create strategic collaborations that will be beneficial and valuable in the long term,” she added.
