As the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting approaches, party leadership has dismissed speculation that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu may request National Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje to step down.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, debunked the rumors in an interview with The PUNCH, ahead of the upcoming National Caucus meeting.

Addressing concerns over the NEC meeting’s agenda and claims of Ganduje’s possible removal, Basiru described the speculation as unfounded, stating, “There is nothing like that. The NEC is a routine meeting, not an elective one. We have been trying to convene it since September last year. Now, it is confirmed that we will hold the National Caucus meeting on Tuesday and the NEC meeting on Wednesday.”

According to Basiru, the meeting will focus on planning the party’s 2025 projects, reviewing financial statements in line with electoral law, updating members on the re-registration exercise, and briefing stakeholders on the establishment of the Progressive Institute—APC’s intellectual and ideological arm.

This NEC meeting marks Ganduje’s first major gathering of party stakeholders since assuming office as National Chairman. His and Basiru’s appointments were ratified at the last NEC meeting on August 3, 2023, at Transcorp Hilton, Abuja.

The critical sessions will be chaired by President Bola Tinubu, with key attendees expected, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, former President Muhammadu Buhari, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, his predecessor, APC governors (past and present), state party chairmen, the National Working Committee (NWC), and other stakeholders.
