APC Chieftain Laments: “Why Are Nigerians More Concerned About Akpabio And Natasha Than Tinubu’s Record-Breaking Budget?

A prominent All Progressives Congress (APC) leader in Delta State, Ayirimi Emami, has urged restraint amid the ongoing controversy between Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Kogi Central Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.

Natasha, during an appearance on Arise TV’s Morning Show on Friday, accused Akpabio of victimizing her after she rejected his alleged sexual advances.

In a statement on Saturday, Emami called for an immediate ceasefire between the two federal lawmakers, warning that political adversaries of President Bola Tinubu’s administration were exploiting the dispute to distract Nigerians.

The APC chieftain expressed concern that the intense media attention on the feud was diverting focus from the critical ₦54.99 trillion 2025 budget, which President Tinubu signed into law on February 28.

Emami also stressed the importance of preserving the Senate’s integrity and hinted that APC leaders in the South-South were actively working to mediate the dispute.

“Instead of concentrating on the essential aspects of the 2025 budget and its potential to drive Nigeria’s progress, many citizens are fixated on the disagreement between the two distinguished senators,” he stated.

“As a political family, we are making efforts to resolve the misunderstanding between the Distinguished Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, and our sister-in-law, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.”

“I appeal to both parties to embrace peace in the interest of the nation. By the grace of God and the wisdom of our ancestors, the issue will be resolved soon.”
