Assembly Staff Confirm Increased Security Deployment

An anonymous female staff member at the Assembly confirmed that the increased security started on Thursday but intensified on Friday as tensions within the House mounted.

“The whole complex is quite empty today. On a regular day, people would be scattered all over the stairs. I think after what happened on Thursday, people stayed away today,” she said.

“The security situation is unusual. It began yesterday, and when we came in this morning, we saw that the number of officers had doubled. I believe it’s because of the ongoing issue,” she added.

This heightened security follows the ongoing leadership crisis between Speaker Mojisola Meranda and the recently ousted Speaker Mudashiru Obasa.
