APC Chieftain Lukman Advises Kwankwaso: Unrealistic, Focus On Relationship With Ganduje

Former member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Working Committee (NWC), Salihu Lukman, has expressed skepticism about the presidential aspirations of Rabiu Kwankwaso, the 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), likening it to a distant dream.

Lukman emphasized that achieving the presidency would necessitate extensive groundwork and negotiation on Kwankwaso’s part. Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, he advised Kwankwaso to reevaluate his ties with APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje.

He stated, “Senator Kwankwaso’s ambition is to lead Nigeria as President. However, given his current circumstances, it appears highly improbable for him to attain that position. It would require substantial time for building consensus and forging alliances across the nation, a process that may extend beyond his lifetime.”

Lukman proposed a strategy of reconciliation within the APC, suggesting that Kwankwaso should consider rejoining the party and renegotiating his relationship with Dr. Ganduje. He stressed the importance of fostering new alliances and rejuvenating leadership dynamics within the party, which he believes could inspire greater confidence among Nigerians.
