Atiku, reacting to the recent Supreme Court judgment on governorship election petitions, had expressed his readiness to lead a coalition of opposition parties to challenge the ruling APC in the 2027 elections. However, Duru, a former member of the House of Representatives, asserted that the APC, under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu, would continue delivering democracy dividends, solidifying the party’s position as unbeatable in the upcoming general elections.

Duru highlighted recent positive actions taken by the government, emphasizing the administration’s responsiveness to public concerns. He cited instances where the government initiated investigations into allegations against certain officials, demonstrating a commitment to transparency and accountability. Duru believed that such measures would strengthen the APC’s standing in the eyes of the public.

While acknowledging the importance of a robust opposition in a political system, Duru expressed skepticism about Atiku’s call for a coalition, citing previous rejections from other opposition parties like the Labour Party and NNPP.
