The Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has successfully intervened in the leadership dispute within the Uhunmwode Local Government Area (LGA), quashing the suspension of key party officials and reaffirming the authority of the LGA chairman.
The APC State Working Committee convened a crucial meeting with stakeholders from Uhunmwode to address two petitions regarding the purported suspension of the APC LGA Chairman, Hon. Osayemwenre Osawe, and the counter-suspension of the State Auditor, Hon. Roland Alari. After extensive deliberations, the committee, led by Emperor Jarret Tenebe’s executive, resolved the contentious issues with clear directives.
Resolutions from the Meeting:
1. Suspensions Nullified: The committee nullified both the purported suspension of Hon. Osayemwenre Osawe and the counter-suspension of Hon. Roland Alari, restoring normalcy within the party’s local leadership.
2. Authority of the Chairman Reaffirmed: The APC State Working Committee declared that Hon. Osayemwenre Osawe remains the sole authority vested with constitutional powers to summon LGA meetings. This decision reaffirms his leadership and reinforces party discipline within the local structure.
3. Warning Against Indiscipline: The committee issued a stern warning to any party official or member attempting to take unilateral actions outside the party’s constitutional provisions. It emphasized that any act of insubordination or attempts to disrupt party leadership will attract appropriate sanctions moving forward.
This intervention by the Edo APC leadership underscores the party’s commitment to upholding internal democracy and ensuring unity among its members.
