As the world commemorates International Women’s Day, Senator Saliu Mustapha has reaffirmed his commitment to advancing gender equality and women’s empowerment. In his goodwill message, the Senator representing Kwara Central applauded the resilience and contributions of Nigerian women, particularly in his constituency. He emphasized the need for greater female participation in politics, governance, and decision-making, aligning with this year’s theme, “Accelerate Action.” Senator Mustapha also highlighted his legislative and empowerment initiatives aimed at fostering an inclusive society where women can thrive and lead.
“As we celebrate this year’s #InternationalWomensDay, I join the global call for greater inclusion of women in politics, governance, and decision-making at all levels.
The resilience, intellect, and dedication of Nigerian women, particularly those in KwaraCentral, are commendable. Their contributions to governance and community development are invaluable, and it is imperative that we create more opportunities for them to thrive.
This year’s theme, “Accelerate Action,” is not just a slogan but a reminder that gender equity is essential for national progress. Women’s competence and excellence demand inclusive policies that empower them to lead.
As Chairman of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Production Services and Rural Development, I remain committed to supporting policies that promote #GenderEquality and women’s empowerment. My recent multi-billion naira empowerment program prioritized women’s economic and social well-being.
We must take deliberate steps to break barriers hindering women from leadership roles and ensure they are not just participants but key decision-makers in governance. I urge governments, policymakers, and the private sector to intensify efforts toward a truly inclusive society.
Women’s empowerment remains a priority for me. Together, let’s #AccelerateAction and create a future where women thrive, lead, and drive sustainable development.”
