APC Fires Back At Peter Obi: Show Us Proof Of ‘Yahoo-Related’ Actions By Government
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has hit back at Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, following his recent remarks accusing the Tinubu-led government of harbouring more ‘Yahoo boys’ than those caught in fraud cases.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Obi made the statement last Saturday during a keynote address at Nexford University’s fourth graduation ceremony, alleging that corrupt government officials were putting Nigeria at risk.
In response, the APC National Publicity Director, Bala Ibrahim, slammed Obi’s comments as baseless and irresponsible, calling them a reflection of a desperate opposition figure. Speaking to Punch, Ibrahim criticized Obi’s approach, saying opposition leaders should focus on constructive criticism, not reckless accusations.
He stated, “You can’t just make unfounded allegations without evidence. If you claim there’s ‘Yahoo Yahoo’ in the government, he should specify what actions the government has taken that are related to fraud. You can’t just make wild claims without any backing, making yourself appear ridiculous and irresponsible.
“Obi and the Labour Party clearly don’t understand the true role of the opposition. Opposition should scrutinize government activities and policies, offering constructive criticism where necessary. But when the opposition resorts to reckless and unfounded accusations, they lose sight of their purpose. If you’re in the opposition, it’s because you either failed to prepare or were not ready to win.”
