APC Governors Draw The Line: “We Will Not Entertain Or Support” Wike’s Rainbow Coalition Video

The Progressives Governors Forum (PGF) is heading for a potential clash with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike following its rejection of his proposed “Rainbow Coalition.

Wike, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who has maintained close political ties with the All Progressives Congress (APC), recently introduced what he described as a “Rainbow Coalition” in Rivers State.

The arrangement is intended to bring together politicians from both the APC and PDP to work toward shared political interests ahead of the 2027 general elections in Rivers State.

However, the APC Governors Forum has now made its position clear on political alliances involving arrangements outside the party.

Following a closed-door meeting in Abuja on Monday, September 14, the Chairman of the Forum and Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, announced the governors’ position.

In a communique issued after the meeting, Uzodinma said APC governors would not support any political arrangement capable of weakening the party or affecting the electoral prospects of its candidates at any level.

According to the governors, political agreements involving individuals or groups outside the APC could undermine candidates officially sponsored by the party across the country.

Uzodinma said:

“The Forum unanimously resolved that its members will not participate, support or endorse any political alliance or arrangement capable of undermining the re-election of Mr President, weakening the APC or adversely affecting any candidate of the party at all levels.

“In other words, the forum has no intention to support any candidate at any level that is not an APC candidate, because our candidates are being sponsored by our party.

“The governors’ campaign commitment is exclusively to all APC candidates.

“No arrangement that causes confusion, divided loyalty, or conflicting interest within the party will be entertained.”
